We can list a lot of things to do in Melbourne, the problem is how to decide where to go. I picked up some must-go areas such as Flinders street Station, Federation Square, Queen Victoria Market etc. Let’s see photos showing how we enjoyed Melbourne.
QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET
This is the very large market hosting more than 600 traders and having over 130 years history. The historic landmark spread over two city blocks. We can shop for everything from fruit, vegetables, local and imported food, clothing and souvenirs.
Tue and Thu 6am-2pm, Fri 6am-5pm, Sat 6am-3pm, and Sun 9am-4pm.
The market is located in urban areas of the city (513 Elizabeth St, Melbourne VIC 3000) .
Fresh food area was energetic and a lot of people were traversing, it looked hectic.
The photo above shows one of market streets with skyscrapers under construction as a background, such combination looked like mismatch each other, however I think this city has history as well as a culture to find/create something new then has ability to manage and merge those things. A lot of things can be listed such as art, music, cuisine, coffee, nature, global melting pot and so on. I’m interested in what kind of trend will arise in this city next in the future.
I came across something interesting. That is Draemon, a Japanese popular character.
I’m not sure if or not the Draemon showcased like above is really made in Japan, but actual Draemon is surely different. Further if you carefully look at it, you will find a different face printed on his hand. It is also a popular character in japan, whose name is Baikinman. Please note that these are of different Anime. I hope everything sold here is made in Japan..
MARKET LANE COFFEE
A cafe we planned to visit in advance was Market Lane Coffee that stands near the Queen Victoria Market.
The cafe provides specialty coffee. Inside the cafe was clean. Atmosphere and staff’s work were excellent.
We had a seat behind the counter where staff’s works could be seen. It was interesting to see how to make a lot of cups of coffees.
ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING
Next we walked to Royal Exhibition Building, which is listed as World Heritage Site.
If you want to get into the building, you need to join tours held based on its availability.
When we arrived University of Melbourne’s graduation ceremonies were ongoing hence we could not enter.
We just walked around the building and took some photos, Congratulation on your graduation!
After looking through Melbourne Museum, we departed here heading to St Patrick’s Cathedral.
In the premises of Royal Exhibition Building, we found a wildlife (Possum?) in a tree. He/she seemed to be trying to hide but, Hi you have not successfully hidden!
Though he/she didn’t show his/her face, it was so cute….. anyway so cute.
FLINDERS STREET STATION and FEDERATION SQUARE
I believe it is the most famous photo in Melbourne. Of course I took photos with the same composition.
Flinders street Station stands close to Yarra river and Federation Square. We took a walk around this area which gave nice views.

A african music event was taking place.
Walked along Yarra River.
Many people, events and music were mixing and ongoing. This place was absolutely enjoyable.
TRAM
No. 35 Free City Circle Tram service runs in both directions every 12 min. We used this line a couple of times because it was really useful. After walking around Federation Square we once return back to our hotel by the Tram room and took a break. Then we re-started sightseeing.
EUREKA SKYDECK 88
As I wanted to have a fine sunset with Melbourne city we got to the Eureka Skyjack 88.
Awe-inspiring views are on offer at Eureka Skydeck 88 from the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere. (Adults 20 AUD)
Unfortunately thick clouds over there hid the sunset however night-views were marvelous.
The plan described above includes several activities and walking, therefore an important thing is to take a rest as necessary. Thanks.

1. Look through Queen Victoria Market and have breakfast.
2. Take a cup of coffee at Market Lane Coffee (109/111 Therry St, Melbourne VIC 3000).
3. Walk through Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Museum and St Patrick’s Cathedral.
4. Move to Flinders Street Station and Federation Square.
5. Take a walk along Yarra River.
6. View sunset and night-views at Eureka Skydeck 88.
