Things to do in Darwin and Northern Territory, Australia

12 March 2017Travel

I have been living in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia, for more than 2 years. The NT is a federal Australian territory. Darwin city is the capital and largest city in the NT. I summarize here what to see in the NT.

Let’s see Things To Do in Darwin and Northern Territory.

OUTBACK

Outback basically means the vast and remote interior of Australia where we can experience untouched nature. Let me list four parks below, in my opinion the priority for visiting would be No.1 > No.2 > No.3 = No.4;

1.Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park

Uluru Australia

Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park is recognized as Wold heritage site. A lot of visitors come to feel and view unique rocks. I would tell you that Uluru/Kata Tjuta are not just rock, but are something special. This is why many people visit and see them in person, I think. Experiences I had there were fantastic and are unforgettable.

For details, please go through my posts in 2016:

2.Kakadu National Park

The Kakadu National Park is listed as a World Heritage site for both Cultural and natural outstanding values. It is the largest national park in Australia, covering approx. 20,000 square kilometres.

Kakadu has been home to Aboriginal people for more than 50,000 years, rock arts created by Aboriginal people, stunning landscapes and wildlife will impress you.

4.Litchfield National Park

Just 129 km south of Darwin, the Litchfield national park attracts locals and visitors by clear swimming basins, bush walk trails and termite mounds.

Visit the park during Dry season in Darwin (i.e. May-Oct) so you can enjoy most of activities. Swimming may be prohibited due to crocodiles entering…

DARWIN CITY

Because of close proximity to South east Asia and its history, Darwin is a multi cultural city. Take a walk through this city and visit markets, then you will feel wide-range diversity.

When to Visit? Dry Season, from May to Oct, is absolutely ok for a visit because the temperature during daytime will be around 27-32 degrees C and humidity is low. Wet season gives peculiar experiences such as heavy rain, thunderstorms and humidity but those are not recommendable for visitors.

Because of coffee lovers existing, there are good cafes in the Darwin city and each has own unique style/atmosphere.

De La Plage Best Table

For those who want to have a relaxing time, I would recommend a open beach cafe, De La Plage, which is located 20 min. away from CBD by car. Please do check open hours by website.
